GigE Vision Camera
The Mercury GigE camera series is an industrial vision camera, with a GigE interface. GigE is the most common interface used for cameras in traditional machine vision applications. The camera is available with and without Power over Ethernet (PoE).
This model is interesting for you when your application complies with the following conditions:
- An industrial camera
- Maximum cable length of 100 meters
- Inexpensive and easy installation of cables
- Only one cable is required to connect the device (in case of PoE)
- Dimensions are: 29x29x29mm (without PoE), 29x29x38 mm (with PoE)
- Optional hardware triggering

Warranty & Product Life Cycle
Daheng Imaging produce yearly more than 100.000 industrial cameras according to the highest quality standards. The industrial cameras are certified by TÜV Rheinland and have a 3 year warranty. After market introduction, every camera model is at least available for 7 years. Most cameras have even a much longer product life cycle. For more information about our
product life cycle management, check this article.
NIR
NIR cameras are monochrome sensors that are specially developed for the Near Infrared Region. These are the wavelengths from 800-1000nM. Normal IR leds operate at 850nM or 930nM. The photon sensitive parts of the pixel of a NIR camera are deeper then of the standard monochrome camera, therefore they are better able to catch the photons of the higher wave lengths (800-1000nM). NIR sensors are more expensive then standard monochrome camera’s. These camera’s are ideal for low light applications, like intelligent transport systems (ITS) and medical imaging.
PoE
Power over Ethernet (PoE) for GigE is invented to supply both power and data over a single standard ethernet cable. This can reduce the cabling and installing time in applications where no hardware trigger or I/O is required. When I/O is used in an application, we advise to supply the camera voltage using the I/O connector. Power over Ethernet consumes more power then power by the I/O connector. The GigE camera will get warmer using PoE, because the voltage of the PoE line must be converted to a lower voltage, resulting in heat generation. A PoE GigE camera is also larger then the version without PoE because an additional board is required to extract the power from the ethernet connector and convert the voltage to a lower voltage level. Due to the extra hardware required the price of a PoE GigE camera is also higher than the version without PoE
