50X microscope lens without coaxial light input
The 50X microscope lens without coaxial light input is part of our microscope lens series. This microscope lens offers 50X magnification. It consists of two parts which should be used together: the actual 50X magnification lens in combination with a 1X magnification lens tube. It is compatible with our C-mount industrial imaging cameras, which allows you to seamlessly convert an industrial USB3 or GigE camera into a digital microscope. Using this 50X microscope lens for your application results in capturing high-resolution images.
These 50X microscope lenses are used in a variety of applications where high magnification and a short working distance of only 15mm is required. Examples of applications include sample analysis in laborites and waver inspection.
Industrial camera for the microscope lens
The 50X microscope lens has a C-mount lens tube with a 1X magnification which is mounted directly on the machine vision camera. The 50X magnification lens part is then mounted on this lens tube. This results in a 50X magnification microscope lens suitable for C-mount industrial cameras with a sensor size up to 1.1”. In addition to the 50X magnification lens, we also offer this microscope lens with 10X magnification.
Coaxial microscope lenses
Some microscope lenses have the option for a coaxial light input. If the part number ends with -CO, the lens has a coaxial light input. If the part number ends with -NI, the lens has no coaxial light input. This specific 50X microscope lens does not have a coaxial light input. Compared to the version with coaxial light input, this microscope lens allows you to benefit from the more compact design.
Would you like to have this 50X microscope lens with a coaxial light input? We also have this option available, you can find it on the product page of the 50X magnification lens with coaxial light input. By choosing the microscope lens with coaxial light input, it offers flexibility to choose the technical light configuration which suits your needs well. The coaxial light input is ideal for illuminating flat shiny surfaces, like metal and printed circuit boards. As light source for the coaxial light input, we recommend our led spot LED2-SPOT-12V-3W-White.
Lighting for the microscope lens application
When capturing objects with a camera and microscope lens with high magnification, it is important to choose the right light source. A light source such as white or blue light with a wavelength between 420nm-680nm is recommended. White light is suitable for both color and monochrome cameras. Blue light is only recommended for monochrome cameras. This is because monochrome cameras have better light sensitivity and blue light has the lowest wavelength within the mentioned wavelength range. For applications that require more contrast in the images, red or green light is advised. Please reach out if we can assist you choosing the right lighting. More information about contrast with colors and lighting can be found in our Knowledge Center article about C-mount lens filters.
Resolving power and optical resolution of the microscope lens
Microscopic lenses are not classified in megapixel resolution, instead they are classified by the smallest detail of an object that they can resolve. This parameter is called the optical resolution. The optical resolution of this lens is 0,41um. This means the smallest detail of the object that you can see is 0,41um. The reason you can’t see smaller is because the wavelength of light is 410 nanometers. It is not possible resolve details that are smaller than the wavelength of the light that you are using. Therefore, when using a 1.1” 12-megapixel camera, you do not use the full 12MP resolution of the camera. In this case, it would be beneficial to put the camera in binning mode to reduce the amount of data and improve the light sensitivity.
Software for microscope cameras and lenses
Our industrial cameras are compatible with the open-source software Micromanager, this is a free open source software package designed for microscopy. Using Micromanager image processing software in combination with our cameras and microscope lenses offer all necessary tools for microscopy applications. The complete microscope set-up offers a great solution for high resolution image acquisition and precise microscope control.
