The 5MP 35MM SWIR lens is part of the 5MP 1” SWIR lens series. To guarantee the right working distance for your application, a range of focal lengths are available in this series. This VA15-LCM-5MP-35MM-F1.4-100-SWIR lens has a 35MM focal length and F-number of 1.4. Our SWIR C-mount lens series supports the wavelength range from 900nm – 1700nm and is designed for sensors with a pixel size of 3.45µm and more.
SWIR C-Mount lenses
SWIR lenses are made specifically for SWIR machine vision cameras. You can define Visible light by its wavelength that ranges between 400nm and 780nm, whereas infrared light has a wavelength that ranges between 780nm and 1000µm. Short-wave infrared (SWIR) light is a type of infrared light that is most similar to visible light.
This 5MP 1” SWIR lens series is specifically designed for Sony's IMX992 and IMX993 image sensors. These sensors are designed to capture light ranging from the SWIR spectrum. For cost-sensitive SWIR imaging between 900-1700nm, this lens delivers a clear price advantage by focusing solely on the SWIR band when compared to the "Visible + SWIR" lens, eliminating the visible light capabilities and reducing overall expense.
The 5MP 35MM SWIR C-mount lens in combination with a SWIR camera is useful in a variety of applications:
- Semiconductor inspection: For the identification of defects do not appear in the visible spectrum.
- Inspection of humidity/moisture on products: Water becomes opaque at 1450nm wavelength. At this wavelength, the light is absorbed by the water.
- Detection of a specific material among other materials: Plastics, metals e.g. may look similar in visible light, but as the infrared reflectance and absorptance vary at different wavelengths, the specific material can be detected among others.
5MP 35MM Short-Wave Infrared lens
Both the iris and focus of this 5MP 35MM SWIR lens can be adjusted, screws can be used to fasten them. Additionally, the VA15-LCM-5MP-35MM-F1.4-100-SWIR SWIR lens features a C-mount for easy mounting on your machine vision camera. Our C-mount SWIR lenses are designed to meet the durability and reliability requirements of industrial environments. They are built to withstand challenging industrial conditions. The 5MP 35MM SWIR lens is built completely from glass and metal elements.
SWIR lens for Sony IMX sensors
The 5MP 1” SWIR lens series is compatible with a variety of industrial cameras because of the standardized C-mount thread. This 5MP 35MM SWIR lens is often used in combination with the following camera sensors:
The development of these new SWIR sensors is a significant step forward in the field of SWIR imaging. SWIR sensors are expected to enable the development of new and innovative applications for SWIR imaging. The sensors are based on Sony's SenSWIR technology, which uses indium gallium arsenide photodiodes (InGaAs) to capture SWIR light.
Resolving power of the 1” SWIR lens series
The 5MP 1” SWIR lens series is recommended for industrial cameras with SWIR sensors such as the previously mentioned Sony sensors to create sharp images within the Short-Wave Infrared field. The recommended cameras pixel size for this series is 3.45µm. It has a resolving power of 50 line pairs per mm (lp/mm). The resolving power is a measure of how many pairs of black and white lines can be distinguished per millimeter of image space. A higher number of line pairs per mm indicates a higher spatial resolution, meaning that the camera or lens system can resolve finer details in the image. SWIR lens Product Life Cycle Management
The SWIR lens series is sold in large numbers and will be produced for a long time. Almost every lens model that has been added to our portfolio since our start, still remains in stock. Additionally, if the VA15-LCM-5MP-35MM-F1.4-100-SWIR lens approaches its End of Life (EOL), we are committed to keeping you informed. All our customers will receive a final notification for their last-time buy. We also assure that after EOL a new production run can always be initiated with a Minimum Order Quantity (MOQ) of 300 pieces of the 5MP 35MM SWIR lens.
Quality control & warranty of SWIR lenses
The lens production quality control process is built on several methodical steps. The process for SWIR lenses, such as the 5MP 35MM SWIR lens, starts with a quality check of incoming raw materials and production line preparation such as check of workers PPE (Personal protective equipment) and cleaning of equipment. During production, each step follows a strict process controlled by visual or tool aided inspections. Each product finishes production with a final inspection, confirming that optical and mechanical requirements are met. In addition, sample control inspections are performed before shipping.
This process generates comprehensive reports, covering all aspects of production. If the 5MP 35MM SWIR lens doesn’t comply with the given quality standards at any time, it will be classified as abnormal. An action will be taken to guarantee the quality of the batch and the procedure. Consistent monitoring ensures that quality is maintained from raw materials to the finished product.
