GigE Vision Camera
The Mercury GigE camera series is an industrial vision camera, with a
GigE interface. GigE is the most common interface used for cameras in traditional machine vision applications. The camera is available with and without Power over Ethernet (PoE).
This model is interesting for you when your application complies with the following conditions:
- An industrial camera
- Maximum cable length of 100 meters
- Inexpensive and easy installation of cables
- Only one cable is required to connect the device (in case of PoE)
- Dimensions are: 29x29x29mm (without PoE), 29x29x38 mm (with PoE)
- Optional hardware triggering

MTBF, warranty & product life cycle
Each year, Daheng Imaging produces more than 100.000 industrial cameras according to the highest quality standards. The mean time between failure (MTBF) is more than 400.000 hours (45 years, 24/7). The industrial cameras are certified by TÜV Rheinland and have a 3 year warranty. After market introduction, every camera model is available for at least 7 years. Most cameras have a much longer product life cycle. For more information about our
product life cycle management, check this article.
Monochrome Camera
A black and white camera, also known as a monochrome camera, offers advantages in a variety of applications. While the market for security and telephony focusses on color cameras, the industrial market utilizes the advantages of black and white cameras. Black and white cameras are very light sensitive, provide sharp images and reduces data compared to color. This makes it ideal for the processing of images. By selecting the right color as your light source and lens filter, a black and white camera can utilize the product its characteristics. Hereby men can create images with a large contrast and a high resolution.
PoE
Power over Ethernet (PoE) for GigE is invented to supply both power and data over a single standard ethernet cable. This can reduce the cabling and installing time in applications where no hardware trigger or I/O is required. When I/O is used in an application, we advise to supply the camera voltage using the I/O connector. Power over Ethernet consumes more power then power by the I/O connector. The GigE camera will get warmer using PoE, because the voltage of the PoE line must be converted to a lower voltage, resulting in heat generation. A PoE GigE camera is also larger then the version without PoE because an additional board is required to extract the power from the ethernet connector and convert the voltage to a lower voltage level. Due to the extra hardware required the price of a PoE GigE camera is also higher than the version without PoE.
