GigE Vision Camera
The MARS GigE Visible-SWIR series is an industrial GigE vision camera, with PoE capability. GigE is a commonly used standard for machine vision applications. It is typically used when a cable length of more than 5 meters is required. This monochrome SWIR camera model is interesting for you when your application complies with the following conditions:
- An industrial VIS-SWIR camera
- Maximum cable length up to 100 meters
- Inexpensive and easy installation of cables
- Using standard 1000mbit ethernet cables (cat6 or higher)
- Only one cable is required to connect the device
- Dimensions are: 58x58x75mm

Monochrome SWIR Industrial Camera
A monochrome SWIR camera is also known as Visible-SWIR camera and can offer advantages in a variety of applications. Typically, light with a wavelength that ranges between 400nm and 780nm is referred to as visible light, while wavelength that ranges between 780nm and 1000µm are referred to as infrared light. Specifically, in the infrared spectrum, the light adjacent to visible light is called Short-Wave Infrared (SWIR). Sony's IMX990 SWIR image sensor is designed to capture light that ranges from the visible to SWIR spectrum. This camera can capture comprehensive image data covering wavelengths from 400nm to 1700nm. The MARS-138-95GM-P-TN-SWIR can replace the traditional "Visible light camera + SWIR camera" dual camera detection scheme. It reduces the cost, improves the processing speed and is even capable of expanding the detection range.
Monochrome SWIR GigE cameras are useful in a variety of applications:
- In semiconductor inspection, where they can identify defects that may not be present in the visible spectrum.
- Inspection of products in moist conditions, water becomes opaque at 1450nm wavelength due to the light being absorbed by the water.
- Detection of a specific material among other materials. For example: plastics and metals may look similar in the visible light spectrum, but because the reflectance and absorptance of the infrared vary at different wavelengths, the specific material can be detected among others.
Thermoelectric cooling (TEC)
Utilizing the Peltier effect, the thermoelectric cooling (TEC) technology ensures precise control, maintaining the CMOS image sensors operating temperature at a constant value The temperature of the sensor can be capped up to 15°C below ambient levels. This innovative cooling mechanism not only establishes a stable operating environment but also enables extended exposure times, significantly enhancing sensitivity of the camera. Such features make it an ideal fit for rigorous requirements, for instance those found in the medical or semiconductor industry.
Industrial camera with PoE
Power over Ethernet (PoE) for GigE is designed to provide both power and data communication over a standard Ethernet cable. This reduces the amount of cables and installation time in applications that do not require a hardware trigger or I/O. When I/O is required in an application we advise to supply power to the camera via an I/O connector. The camera’s power usage is larger when using Power over Ethernet than via the I/O connector. In addition, the camera will generate extra heat when regulating the power transmitted via PoE to needed values. The advantage of PoE is that installation is easier because less cables are required.
MTBF, Warranty & Product Life Cycle
Each year, Daheng Imaging produces more than 100.000 industrial cameras according to the highest quality standards. The mean time between failure (MTBF) is more than 400.000 hours (45 years, 24/7). The industrial cameras are certified by TÜV Rheinland and have a 3 year warranty. After market introduction, every camera model is available for at least 7 years. Most cameras have a much longer product life cycle. For more information about our product life cycle management, check this article.
